ECO Composting has made it through to the finals of the 2007 Dorset Business Awards.
The Dorset organics recycling firm was among three companies shortlisted for the KPMG Company of the Year Award.
Entrants were judged on six criteria including:
* Excellence and innovation in products and services
* Identification and exploitation of new markets
* Past achievements and future plans
* Financial performance
* Staff involvement and motivation to meet business objectives
* Contribution to the community and commitment to environmental protection
More than 600 people attended the Oscars-style awards presentation at the Bournemouth International Centre on November 29. The awards, now in their 13th year, had ten categories.
Phil Cotton, senior partner at KPMG's South Coast office, said: “The judging panel for the KPMG Company of the Year category had been impressed by Eco Composting's innovative approach, investment in technology and strong management, which has seen turnover and profit grow 25 per cent each year over the past two years.”
He added: “It has demonstrated vision, passion and determination to develop and create a leading recycling facility of its type, which has achieved stable organic growth in its core markets. Eco Composting was a very worthy finalist in a closely run competition."
Apart from Eco Composting, the other finalists in the KPMG Company of the Year category were domiciliary care provider Agincare and Kondor, a distributor of mobile, music and data accessories. In the event, Kondor won the title.
