Eco defies business gloom to launch new subsidiary (posted 10/10/2008)Fast-growing organics recycling firm Eco Sustainable Solutions Ltd is to defy the current crop of gloomy business headlines by launching a new subsidiary.
Eco Equip (Europe) Ltd will produce and sell plastic separators for the recycling sector using the knowledge and expertise built up over Eco’s 14-year existence.
It will also resell other manufacturer’s equipment, including shredders and screens, and has been appointed as the UK agent for Erin screen systems, the product line of Canadian-based Premier Tech Systems.
Headed by Peter Hardy, Business Development Director, Eco Equip will operate from Eco’s existing site at Parley, Dorset. The new venture plans to target firms involved in skips, recycling, quarries, primary aggregates and sand and gravel, as well as in-vessel compost (IVC) plants, wood recyclers and plant hire operators.
Mr Hardy said: “We believe there is a real gap in the market for the products offered by Eco Equip.
“Eco has the huge advantage of 14 years’ experience of not just using the equipment but also adapting it to our specific needs.
“It means Eco Equip customers can enjoy all the benefits, and none of the downsides, of the learning curve we have undergone since 1994.”
Freddie Smyth, Eco’s Finance Director, described the new subsidiary as an “exciting development.”
He added: “We have looked carefully at the market and believe there is huge potential for a specialised operator like Eco Equip.”
Founded in 1994, Eco is one of the UK’s leading organics recycling firms, annually processing 140,000 tonnes of material on its 14-acre site at Parley, Dorset. End products include turf, enriched topsoil, compost and woodchip.
The company employs 29 staff and had an annual turnover of £4.8 million for the year to December 31, 2007.
