Eco launches Hampshire outlet to meet growing turf sales (posted 19/02/2009)Demand for ‘green friendly’ turf has resulted in Eco opening a new sales outlet in Hampshire.
The organics recycling firm is now selling its ‘EcoTurf’ at the former Rolawn depot at Hillier Garden Centre in Botley.
The turf is grown using totally sustainable methods at Eco’s Parley site in Dorset. The company produces about 500,000 m2 of turf annually.
Compost produced on-site by Eco is used in the growing process. As well as making the turf sustainable it also enhances its abilities to be drought tolerant and hard wearing.
The turf is grown on 400 acres of sandy loam soil, offering excellent drainage and allowing Eco to cut virtually all year round.
The nutrient rich compost used by Eco is particularly successful at replenishing the soil harvested during the turf process.
Justin Dampney, Eco’s Business Development Manager, Sales and Marketing Director, said the turf operation was totally sustainable and environmentally friendly.
He added: “The Botley launch is in direct response to an increased demand for sustainable turf such as EcoTurf.
“All our turf has been grown to the high standards set out by the Turfgrass Growers Association and, if you’ll pardon the pun, we believe there is scope for further growth in the future.”
